Pro-Active Management of the Impact of Cultural Tourism upon Urban Resources and Economies

The event: The EU-funded research project PICTURE will have its final conference in Luxembourg (at Neumünster Abbey), the 21-23 September 2006.

The PICTURE project’s objective is to develop a strategic urban governance framework for the sustainable management of cultural tourism within small and medium-sized European cities (10 000-300 000 inhabitants). This framework will help establish, evaluate and benchmark integrated tourism policies at the local level with a view to maximising the benefits of tourism upon the conservation and enhancement of built heritage diversity and urban quality of life. In this sense, the PICTURE final conference will present the main findings of the project to a large audience. It is intended to gather international researchers and practitioners and to serve as a platform for exchanges and dialogue for anybody working and/or interested in the cultural tourism field in small and medium-sized cities.
