Informal meeting of the Board of Directors of the OWHC in Bordeaux, France

Bordeaux, France

The members of the Board of Directors of the Organisation of World Heritage Cities (OWHC) have gathered together in Bordeaux on 17 January 2013 to work on the subjects which will be tackled during the next Board of Directors’ session in Québec City.

The following topics have been tackled:
– the overall functioning of the Board of Directors;
– the review of the By-Laws;
– the role of the regional secretariats and their linkages to the Board of Directors.

Given the importance of the Board of Directors’ meeting which will take place in Québec City, the meeting in Bordeaux allowed to take on prior work commitments so as to produce written contributions on those topics. The importance of communication and that of being present on the social networks was also highlighted during the same meeting.

The Board of Directors of the OWHC is fully aware of the importance of the conclusions that will be reached during the meeting in Québec City, as two major events will follow in 2013: the “On the way to Oaxaca” workshop in June and the World Congress in November.

The Board of Directors members have agreed to say that all those thoughts and proposals are all the more welcome since the Organisation celebrates its 20th birthday this year.
