6 July 2015
On June 4th, 2015, in the town hall of the city of Tunis was held the Regional Meeting of the Regional Secretariat of Africa and Middle East. This meeting starts anew this Secretariat that has known difficulties after the Arabic Revolutions of the last years and the passing of Ms. Sémia Akrout Yaiche.
More than 120 participants were present and have exchanged views on the theme: “Governance of the Historic Heritage of the African and Arabic Cities: What roles for the local governments and the civil society?”
This meeting was jointly organized by the Association of the Arabic Cities (OVA) which whom the OWHC signed a agreement five years ago – this meeting stands as the first tangible following of the agreement – and marks also a first collaboration with the Foundation of Heritage and Arabic Historic Cities (FPVHA) whose president is the mayor of Tunis, Mr. Seifallah Lasram.
To finish, it is with praise that we thank warmly, Mr. Zoubeir Mouhli, Regional Coordinator of the Regional Secretariat of Africa and Middle East and Managing Director of the FPVHA for this successful meeting that marks the relaunch in the good direction of the Regional Secretariat of Africa and Middle East.
Thank you to the city of Tunis!
