The World Heritage City of Bamberg receives more than 15 million Euros from the German Smart Cities Funding Programme
The city applied with a range of digital projects, which were jointly developed by the city administration, the university, the World Heritage Department and more than 150 citizens. The development process was facilitated through a digital platform, which enabled broad participation. The planned projects include a digital twin of the World Heritage site, a mobility research lab at the University of Bamberg, neighborhood projects and digital health services.
Under the federal programme “Smart Cities Model Projects”, a total of 32 cities throughout Germany were selected for funding, which also include the World Heritage City of Lübeck.
