The City of Amsterdam shares its new Management Plan for the canal ring heritage site: with a first plan dating from the days of the nomination for the UNESCO World Heritage status in 2009, it was time to work on an updated version. It is more compact and meets the current UNESCO standards. It describes how the City of Amsterdam will preserve, propagate and, where possible and desired, strengthen the Outstanding Universal Value (OUV) of the World Heritage site for current and future generations.
The Plan deals with policy-based protection, management-based protection, and the propagation of the values of the World Heritage site. After adoption by the City in 2023, it has been officially published on the UNESCO centre only lately.
