First meeting of the Community of Practice, March 13-14 in Évora, Portugal

A new activity and an essential platform for the development of the New Urban Project

The first meeting, opened by the mayor of Évora, Mr. Carlos Pinto de Sá, involved the representatives and elected officials of Bordeaux, Brussels, Cuenca, Dubrovnik, Évora, and Quebec. The participants developed the results of the Cordoba Symposium by considering the thematic statements from a cross-disciplinary perspective in order to propose operational guidelines.

The primary function of the Community of Practice is to put into perspective the Statements and Courses of action presented at the Cordoba Symposium in order to emphasize Operational Objectives (targets to be achieved) and Solutions (specific actions) to implement the 4 Strategic Axes.

The quality and relevance of the work carried out in Évora places the Community of Practice at the heart of the plan to be implemented in 2025 and 2026, which will lead to the development of the OWHC’s New Urban Project.

The Community of Practice is therefore set to develop and strengthen in the perspective of its next meeting. In the immediate term, the results confirmed by the Elected Representatives will be submitted to the Mayors’ Panel for adoption before the summer of 2025.

The General Secretariat would like to thank the representatives of the pilot cities and their elected representatives for their contribution to the creation of this activity and encourages other member cities to contribute in the future.

The report of the Community of Practice meeting in Évora will be circulated shortly. Stay tuned for developments and don’t miss the next episodes of NUP-Connect for more information.
