Seventh Conference of the Central and Eastern European Member Cities of the Organization of World Heritage Cities
"Management of the World Heritage Area” and "Youth Programs”
The seventh Conference of the Central and Eastern European Member Cities of the Organization of World Heritage Cities will be held on 9-12 September, 2008 in Budapest.
The cities of the region meet traditionally every other year. The 1996 Budapest conference was the first regional meeting and the beginning of meaningful regional work. That conference, and the "Budapest Document", passed by the participants, was followed by the second, third and fourth conference of the member cities of the region in 1998, 2000, 2002, 2004 and 2006 when the second, third, fourth and fifth “Budapest Document", the “Budapest-Banská Štiavnica Document” and the “Budapest-Kutná Hora Document” were passed, further strengthening the role of the member cities of the region in the OWHC, meanwhile cities which have been newly declared as parts of world heritage, have also joined regional work.
The aim of the conference is to continue the successful co-operation, started in 1996, in the interest of preserving the values of our historical cities, and to elaborate the co-ordination of the activities of the various cities.
