Conference on Security of Historical Cities

Split, Croatia

This week is the opening of the international conference on Security of Historical Cities, to be held in Split (Croatia) from March 31 to April 01, 2017.

Speakers from Canada, USA, UK, Spain, Slovenia, Romania, ICOMOS ICROP Turkey and Croatia will gather for this meeting.

The IPA Split-Dalmatian Regional Club (International Police Association – IPA SD) is the initiator and host of this conference, co-organized with the Croatian Association of Historic Towns – HUPG (established by the City of Dubrovnik); alongside the support of the OWHC in Quebec and MedCities in Barcelona as well as EFFORTS in Hertogenbosch, Netherlands.

The conference is also sponsored by the Croatian ministries: tourism; culture; internal affairs; and justice.

Day-to-day security is a basic need that holds a key role in the assessment of the quality of life in every local community. This conference will gather best practices and experiences that can be applied to local communities, municipalities and cities. It will enable the exchange of models and the support of experts, not only in the Croatia, but also in neighboring regions and around the Mediterranean, including North Africa and the Middle East.
