The Association of Friends of the World Heritage Bamberg just presented a new touch-book to support visually impaired and blind people on city tours. On ten hard-wearing plastic pages, the new book shows the most important sights of the UNESCO World Heritage Site “Old Town of Bamberg” as a relief to feel.

The illustrations, selected and graphically edited by tour guides, are in three contrasting colours. Thus they are still recognizable even with strong sight restrictions. The inscription with large letters in combination with Braille explains important contents. The touch-book was produced in triplicate by the Berlin-based company “Tactilestudio” and financed by the Association of Friends of the World Heritage Bamberg. It does not replace a city tour, but enables visually impaired and blind people to take part in a classic city tour.

The touch-book will be used for the first time in Germany from 2020 on for city tours via the Tourism & Congress Service Bamberg.
