Hello,

My name is Tino Motzalla and I’m part of the team of Potsdam Marketing & Service GmbH.

In the past few years, we could welcome more guests from all over the world in Potsdam every year. They enjoyed the magnificent palaces, the extensive parks and the baroque city center framed by the romantic water landscape of the Potsdam Havel Lakes.

The current crisis with its travel restrictions has not gone unnoticed in Potsdam.

As employees of Potsdam Marketing & Service GmbH and committed Potsdam ambassadors, we also feel the effects directly.

Our Tourist Information Centers, which are normally very crowded at this time of the year, were closed. Our Group Service, usually busy with booking one guide after another, is only receiving cancellations. And the most frequently answered question in the Service Center is no longer « Do you still have a room available? » but « When can we travel to Potsdam again?”.

But what unites me and my colleagues is the solidarity. Through the motto « Teamwork makes the Dream work » we have pulled ourselves together, brainstormed and thought about what we can do for our future guests in times like this.

In order to enable them to get an impression of Potsdam during the time of the curfew, we have put together various ways to explore our city from home on www.potsdamtourismus.de and www.potsdam-tourism.com. Despite the temporary closures, many museums and exhibitions are currently opening their digital doors and inviting you to a virtual visit.

Now you can stroll digitally through Potsdam’s baroque city centre, immerse yourself in the Dutch Quarter and enjoy the view from the dome of St. Nicholas’ Church on the Old Market. And all this with a 360-degree panoramic view. You can digitally marvel at the magnificent rooms of Sanssouci Palace as well as at Monet’s impressive pictures in the Barberini Museum.

And this is how we want to give people a short break in between home office and family care, by transferring the Potsdam feeling to current and future Potsdam fans.

A feeling that I would describe with the enjoyment of life, or the lightness of being. In other languages it is summed up with savoir vivre or la dolce vita. Frederick the Great gave his summer palace the name to this feeling: Sans souci!
