The representatives of the 56 cities participating in the Second International World Heritage Symposium in Fez (Morocco) on 8 September 1993 met in a Constitutive General Assembly and decided to found the Organization of World Heritage Cities (OWHC). The Charter of the OWHC was adopted on this occasion.
